# Best time to post on Bluesky: find yours

We found no best time to post from Bluesky and no documented creator analytics. Here is how to find your own best time with a simple test and a post log.

*Guides · Published 2026-10-06*

The Bluesky pages we read on October 6, 2026 name no best time to post and document no analytics for creators. So the best time to post on Bluesky is the one your own posts prove, and you have to measure it yourself with the engagement counts Bluesky does expose.

This guide covers what Bluesky's official pages say (and do not say), a test you can run with a spreadsheet, and what TrackMedia's best-times view can and cannot show for Bluesky. We use no third-party "best time" figures, because they describe someone else's audience.

## What is the best time to post on Bluesky?

We found no answer from Bluesky. We searched its help center for "best time to post"; the two results, Moderation and Custom Feeds and What is Bluesky?, are general FAQ pages, and we opened both and found no wording about timing, analytics or scheduling. We cannot prove no such page exists, only that we did not find one.

There is also a structural reason a single answer is unlikely to exist. Bluesky's help article [Moderation and Custom Feeds](https://blueskyweb.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/19002427251981-Moderation-and-Custom-Feeds) (marked "3 years ago" on the page) says custom feeds let you "pick the algorithm that powers your social media experience." Bluesky's January 26, 2026 post [What's Next at Bluesky](https://bsky.social/about/blog/01-26-2026-whats-next-at-bluesky) says feeds will become more central to the app. When your readers see posts through different feeds, one posting hour may not mean the same thing to all of them. That is our inference, not something Bluesky states.

## Does Bluesky have analytics for creators?

We found no documented analytics. The table lists each place we looked.

| Where we looked | What we found | Date read |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Help center search for "analytics", "insights", "impressions", "statistics", "metrics" | 0 articles each | Oct 6, 2026 |
| Blog index at bsky.social/about/blog | No post about creator analytics among the titles and summaries listed (Feb 7, 2022 to Jul 10, 2026) | Oct 6, 2026 |
| What's Next at Bluesky (Jan 26, 2026) | No mention of analytics; says Bluesky wants to help posters find the right audience | Oct 6, 2026 |

The same search box returned six articles for "password", so the search was working. One blog title mentions tracking, "Altmetric Is Now Tracking Bluesky Mentions!" (December 3, 2024), but its summary is about researchers following conversation around their papers, not about your posting results. We read only the title and summary line.

What Bluesky does publish is its data schema. In the [app.bsky.feed.defs lexicon](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/bluesky-social/atproto/main/lexicons/app/bsky/feed/defs.json), the `postView` object that the API returns for a post carries `likeCount`, `replyCount`, `repostCount`, `quoteCount` and `bookmarkCount`. We searched that file for "impression" and "views" and found neither, so that object carries engagement counts but no reach number. That is a statement about this one schema file, not about other API endpoints or the app screens, which we did not check.

![Two panels. Left: the five count fields on a Bluesky post view (likeCount, replyCount, repostCount, quoteCount, bookmarkCount) and a note that the file has no impressions or views field. Right: five rules for a timing test using raw counts, and a note that TrackMedia shows no engagement rate for Bluesky.](https://www.trackmedia.app/assets/img/blog/best-time-to-post-on-bluesky-fig1.svg)

*Bluesky's post schema carries counts but no impressions, so a timing test compares raw counts. The figure contains no performance data.*

## How do you find your best time to post on Bluesky?

Run a small experiment and log every post. This is our suggested method, not one Bluesky recommends, and it works on any network. Our guides to [the best time to post on X](https://www.trackmedia.app/blog/best-time-to-post-on-x) and [the best time to post on TikTok](https://www.trackmedia.app/blog/best-time-to-post-on-tiktok) use the same logic, with each platform's own analytics doing the measuring. Bluesky has none, so you build the measurement yourself.

1. **Pick two or three candidate slots.** Include the time you post at today as a baseline. Write each slot in one time zone, yours.
2. **Post similar posts in each slot.** Keep the format alike (text only, image, link) so you compare times and not formats. Choose each post's slot by strict rotation or a coin flip before you see results, so no slot collects all your best topics.
3. **Read every post at the same age.** Bluesky does not document how long counts take to settle, so choose an age and keep it. Two days after posting is our suggestion.
4. **Log the counts.** Record date, slot, format, likes, replies, reposts and quotes. Add your follower count at the start and the end of the test, because a growing audience lifts every count after it.
5. **Compare medians, not averages.** One post that a large account reposts can distort an average. If the gap between two slots is no bigger than the spread of posts inside one slot, you have no evidence of a difference.
6. **Repeat later.** Your followers, topics and feeds change, so rerun the test every few weeks.

Ten posts per slot is a modest start in our judgment, not a statistical rule. Without impressions you cannot tell a post nobody saw from a post people saw and ignored, so treat small differences as noise.

## Can you schedule Bluesky posts for a time slot?

A test is easier when posts go out exactly on time. We found no scheduler documented in Bluesky's help center (a search for "schedule" returns 0 articles; our guide to [scheduling posts on Bluesky](https://www.trackmedia.app/blog/how-to-schedule-posts-on-bluesky) covers the options), so a tool has to hold the post and publish it at the chosen time. With TrackMedia, the schedule lives in TrackMedia and the post is published when it is due. For a clean test, schedule every test post the same way, or none of them.

## What does TrackMedia's best-times view show for Bluesky?

It shows when your Bluesky posts went out and how many landed in each slot, but it cannot rank slots by a rate, because Bluesky supplies no impressions. In TrackMedia, open Analytics ([about TrackMedia Analytics](https://www.trackmedia.app/#analytics)), choose the **Best times** tab, and use the network and account filters to look at Bluesky alone. The panel titled "When your posts land best" shows a weekday-by-hour grid in your workspace's time zone, built from posts that went out in the date range you chose. Imported posts, meaning ones you did not publish through TrackMedia, are included.

What TrackMedia's code reads from Bluesky, using the `app.bsky.feed.getPosts` call, is likes, replies, and reposts plus quotes added together as one shares count. It also reads your follower, following and post counts. It does not read bookmarks. Here is how that plays out in the view:

- **No rate.** The grid's table shows "Not reported" as the engagement rate for Bluesky slots, and "Your strongest slots" shows "No rate reported".
- **Only the sample bar works.** A slot needs at least three posts to be ranked. Slots under that stay in a neutral shade, so you can see what is thin.
- **Shading is flat.** Because the shading follows rate, all ranked Bluesky slots get the same light shade. In our reading of the code, the shortlist order falls back to average likes, replies and shares, but it does not display those numbers.
- **Posts without numbers yet count as zero.** A post whose counts TrackMedia has not read yet still counts in its slot, with zero engagement, which pulls that slot's average down.

So on Bluesky, treat the view as a posting-history map, and keep the log from the section above as your real comparison. The grid describes what happened, not what will happen, and it cannot tell a good hour from a good post. If you leave other networks selected, a slot's rate averages only the posts that have one, so Bluesky posts add to the post count but not to the rate, which is another reason to filter to Bluesky first.

If you want to schedule your test posts and keep the history in one place, you can [start free with TrackMedia](https://go.trackmedia.app/signup).

## How we checked this

We opened each page below in a browser tab on October 6, 2026 and copied labels and field names from it. We did not run a timing test on a live Bluesky account or open the Bluesky app.

- [Bluesky Help Center search](https://blueskyweb.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/search?query=analytics): queries "analytics", "insights", "impressions", "statistics", "metrics" and "schedule" (0 articles each), "best time to post" (2 articles), "password" (6 articles, as a control).
- [Moderation and Custom Feeds](https://blueskyweb.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/19002427251981-Moderation-and-Custom-Feeds) (Bluesky Help Center, marked "3 years ago"): the custom feeds wording.
- [Bluesky blog index](https://bsky.social/about/blog): posts listed from February 7, 2022 to July 10, 2026, scanned by title and summary for analytics-related posts.
- [What's Next at Bluesky](https://bsky.social/about/blog/01-26-2026-whats-next-at-bluesky) (January 26, 2026): feeds, discovery and the audience wording; no analytics mention.
- [app.bsky.feed.defs lexicon](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/bluesky-social/atproto/main/lexicons/app/bsky/feed/defs.json) and [app.bsky.feed.getPosts lexicon](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/bluesky-social/atproto/main/lexicons/app/bsky/feed/getPosts.json) (AT Protocol, GitHub, main branch as of October 6, 2026): the post count fields, and no impressions or views field.

**What we could not verify:** any Bluesky page stating a best time (we found none and cannot prove none exists); whether the Bluesky app shows counts, who sees them, or under what labels; whether Bluesky has analytics in places we did not search, such as in-app settings; how long counts take to settle; and how Bluesky's feeds weigh posting time. We searched the What is Bluesky? article for timing, analytics and scheduling wording but did not read it in full, and we read the Altmetric post only as its summary line. TrackMedia's behavior comes from its Bluesky connector and analytics code, read the same day, not from a live test.
