# How to add Instagram link to TikTok bio

TikTok no longer supports links that open or log you into other apps. Add your profile as a website link (1,000 followers or Verified Business Account needed).

*Guides · Published 2026-10-06*

To add an Instagram link to your TikTok bio, put your Instagram profile's web address in the website link on your TikTok profile: tap **Profile**, **Edit profile**, then **Add** next to **Links**. TikTok's Help Center says that needs at least 1,000 followers or a Verified Business Account, and that TikTok no longer supports links that open or log you into other social media apps.

That second point matters if you are looking for an "Add Instagram" or "Add YouTube" button: TikTok's current page does not describe one. This guide uses TikTok's and Instagram's own help pages, read on October 6, 2026, and says plainly what they do not cover.

## Does TikTok still let you link Instagram and YouTube?

TikTok's Help Center page [Adding a website link to your profile](https://www.tiktok.com/support/faq_detail?id=7581821550328896012) (read October 6, 2026) says TikTok no longer supports links that open or log you into other social media apps, and that you can still add links to your profile that send people to those platforms' websites. It also says the website link lets creators share external sites, "such as their portfolio or other social channels".

So the supported route is a normal web link that happens to point at instagram.com or youtube.com. We could not find an official TikTok page that documents an "Add Instagram" or "Add YouTube" button. TikTok's old Help Center address for "Link a website or social media account" now redirects to the website link article above, which fits the same change.

We did not test a live TikTok account, so your app version may still show something different. If you see an Instagram or YouTube option under **Edit profile**, TikTok's current page does not describe it, so treat it as unconfirmed.

## How to add your Instagram link to your TikTok bio

Use the website link. Steps 2 to 4 are TikTok's own wording for the TikTok app; steps 1 and 5 are our additions.

1. **Copy your Instagram profile link.** In the Instagram app, Instagram's Help Center says to tap **Profile**, then **Share profile**, where a **Copy link** option sits below your profile card. That page says the feature is not available to everyone and does not say what the copied link looks like. TikTok does not say which format it prefers, so paste the full address.
2. **Open your profile.** In the TikTok app, tap **Profile** at the bottom.
3. **Tap Edit profile.**
4. **Next to Links, tap Add.** Then follow the steps to link the address.
5. **Open your profile as a visitor would.** Tap the link and check it opens your Instagram page. TikTok says tapped links open in its in-app browser.

The same page says you may see a message asking you to open a page in your device's web browser, because TikTok limits how people can follow chains of external links inside the in-app browser. It recommends direct links so people reach the intended site in a few steps. A link straight to your Instagram profile is already direct.

## What do you need to add a link to TikTok?

TikTok says you can add a link to a website if you have at least 1,000 followers, or if you have a Verified Business Account. The page also says you can choose to add a Lemon8 account, where available.

If you do not meet either requirement, the page lists no other way to add a profile link, and we found no official page saying otherwise. TikTok's page on [changing your account bio](https://www.tiktok.com/support/faq_detail?id=7096681482017692162) says bios cannot exceed 80 characters (its steps are written for TikTok on the web). You can type your Instagram handle there as plain text. TikTok does not say whether text in a bio is tappable, so count on people searching for it.

![Decision flow for linking Instagram from TikTok. A link that opens or logs you into another social app is not supported. A website link needs 1,000 followers or a Verified Business Account, set at Profile, Edit profile, Links, Add. Under 1,000 followers with no badge, the help page lists no link route, so write your handle in the bio, which cannot exceed 80 characters per TikTok's web steps.](https://www.trackmedia.app/assets/img/blog/how-to-add-your-instagram-link-to-tiktok-bio-fig1.svg)

## Do you need a Linktree for TikTok?

Only if you want more than one destination. TikTok's page describes a website link in the singular, so a link-in-bio page (Linktree is one example) is how people fit an Instagram profile, a shop and a newsletter behind one address. You paste that page's address into the same **Links** field, and the 1,000-follower or Verified Business Account requirement still applies.

If your only goal is to send people to Instagram, a page adds a tap and one more thing to maintain, so a direct link is simpler. Our guide to [choosing a link in bio tool](https://www.trackmedia.app/blog/link-in-bio-tools) covers features to compare, and the guide to [where to find the link in bio on Instagram](https://www.trackmedia.app/blog/where-to-find-link-in-bio-on-instagram) covers the matching setup on Instagram, where its Help Center says you can add up to 5 websites.

TikTok's page does not say whether it accepts every link-page or short-link domain. Add the link, then open your profile and tap it before you announce it.

## Can you see how many people clicked your profile link?

That depends on where the link points. TikTok's Help Center page for profile links does not describe click counts, so for a count you need a tool on the other side of the link. A link-in-bio page with analytics, or a short link that counts its own clicks, can show it.

For what TikTok itself reports, see [how to check TikTok analytics](https://www.trackmedia.app/blog/how-to-check-tiktok-analytics). For the Instagram side of the same question, read [how to see who clicked your Instagram link](https://www.trackmedia.app/blog/how-to-see-who-clicked-your-instagram-link).

## Where TrackMedia fits

TrackMedia is not a link-in-bio page builder, so it will not replace a Linktree-style page for your profile. What it can do is make a tracked short link for any address: the **Links** page has a **Shorten a link** option that makes a manual short link with no UTM tags added, pointing at exactly the URL you paste. The **Analytics** tab then shows clicks by day, country, referrer, device and browser for 7, 30 or 90 days, with bots excluded. See the [analytics overview](https://www.trackmedia.app/#analytics).

We could not verify that TikTok accepts a TrackMedia short link in the profile link field, so test it as described above. Links inside TikTok captions are left as written, because captions are not clickable. If you also publish to TikTok from TrackMedia, the composer offers **Post to TikTok** or **Send to TikTok inbox as a draft**, but profile links stay a manual step in the TikTok app. You can [start free with TrackMedia](https://go.trackmedia.app/signup) and try the short-link counts.

## How we checked this

We opened each page below in a browser on October 6, 2026 and copied the labels and numbers from it. We did not test the steps on a live TikTok or Instagram account, and we did not check what other TikTok app versions show.

- [Adding a website link to your profile](https://www.tiktok.com/support/faq_detail?id=7581821550328896012) (TikTok Support): the 1,000-follower and Verified Business Account requirement, the Profile, Edit profile, Links, Add steps, the in-app browser behavior, and the statement that links opening or logging into other social apps are no longer supported. The older support.tiktok.com address "linking-another-social-media-account" redirected to this article.
- [Changing account bio](https://www.tiktok.com/support/faq_detail?id=7096681482017692162) (TikTok Support): the 80-character bio limit, in steps written for TikTok on the web.
- [Add a website to your Instagram profile](https://help.instagram.com/362497417173378) (Instagram Help Center, iPhone app view): up to 5 websites on an Instagram profile.
- [Edit and share your Instagram profile card](https://help.instagram.com/550964264146477/) (Instagram Help Center, iPhone app view): Profile, Share profile, Copy link; the page says the feature is not available to everyone.

We could not verify: any official TikTok page for an "Add Instagram" or "Add YouTube" button; whether the bio makes handles tappable; whether TikTok accepts short-link or link-page domains; the exact format of an Instagram profile address (we did not find an Instagram help page that states it); and whether the follower requirement differs by region. TrackMedia's behavior comes from our product code, read the same day.
