To share your LinkedIn profile, use Resources, then Send Profile in a message on desktop, or Your Profile, then Share via on mobile. Or copy your public URL.

*Guides · Published 2026-11-03*

To share your LinkedIn profile on a desktop, go to your profile, click the **Resources** button in the introduction section and select **Send Profile in a message**. On mobile, open your profile, scroll to the Contact section, tap **Your Profile**, then **Share via…**. To find your LinkedIn URL, open Public profile & URL.

This guide uses LinkedIn Help's "Share a profile with connections and coworkers", "Manage your public profile URL", "LinkedIn public profile visibility" and "Promoting Your Public Profile" pages, read on October 22, 2026. It also shows how to customize your URL, who can see your profile and how to track clicks on it.

## How to share your LinkedIn profile

LinkedIn Help describes sharing a profile inside LinkedIn as a way to grow your network or increase your chance of finding and securing professional opportunities. You can share your profile with any of your 1st-degree connections and coworkers.

### On desktop

1. **Click the Me icon** at the top of your LinkedIn homepage.
2. **Click View profile.**
3. **Click the Resources button** in your introduction section.
4. **Select Send Profile in a message.** A New message window opens.
5. **Type the names** of the connections you want to share with. Your public profile URL fills the text box, and you can add a personal message or media.
6. **Click Send.**

### On mobile

1. **Tap your profile picture**, then **View Profile**.
2. **Scroll to the Contact section.**
3. **Tap Your Profile**, then **Share via…**
4. **Choose how to send it.** LinkedIn Help says you can share from the LinkedIn mobile app or from another messaging application on your device.

### Share someone else's profile

The same page covers introducing a member to your network. On desktop, open their profile, click **More** in the introduction section, and select **Share Profile**. On mobile, open the profile and tap **More**, then either **Share via private message** to send it within LinkedIn, or **Share via…** to use another messaging app.

## How to find your LinkedIn URL

Your public profile URL is the link you paste into a resume, an email signature or a job application. LinkedIn Help says some job applications may ask for it. To find it on desktop:

1. **Click the Me icon**, then **View Profile**.
2. **Click the Edit icon** next to **Public profile & URL** on the right pane.
3. **Read the link** under "Edit your custom URL".

On the mobile app, LinkedIn Help gives this path: tap your profile photo, tap it again to open your profile, tap the **More** icon next to the Add section button, tap **Contact info**, tap the Edit icon in the upper right, then tap your **Profile URL**. That opens the Public profile settings page.

## How to customize your LinkedIn URL

A custom URL is easier to read and share than the default one. On the Public profile settings page, click the Edit icon next to your public profile URL, type the last part of the new URL and click **Save**. LinkedIn Help lists these rules:

- It can be 3 to 100 characters long, with no spaces, symbols, special characters or the word LinkedIn.
- It is case insensitive: JohnSmith and johnsmith point to the same profile.
- Custom URLs are first come, first served, and LinkedIn can't make a taken URL available on request.
- You can change it up to five times within six months. After the fifth change, you can't change it for another six months.
- After you change it, the previous URL stays linked to you for six months unless you unlink it. An unlinked URL isn't visible to other members for seven days, after which they can claim it.

The page recommends a variation of your name or professional brand. It also says the automatically assigned URL can be changed only if you update your name.

## Who can see your shared LinkedIn profile?

LinkedIn Help describes a public profile as a simplified version of your profile. It can be visible to people who aren't members, viewers not signed in to LinkedIn, and search tools such as Google or Bing, subject to your off-LinkedIn visibility settings. Not all sections can be shown publicly, and visitors may need to sign in to see your full profile.

You choose which sections show: edit the section first, then turn its public visibility on or off. LinkedIn also warns that changes can take several weeks or months to show up in search engines, and that it doesn't control that refresh. Another page lists a profile badge as an option for promoting your public profile, which you can add to a resume, blog or website via **Create a public profile badge** on the Public Profile page.

Disabling your public profile hides it from non-members and search results, and LinkedIn says it could prevent you from recovering your account if you lose access to your primary email address, because it may require your public profile URL.

## How to share and track your profile link with TrackMedia

Once you have your URL, the question is where it earns clicks. TrackMedia helps you get it in front of the right people and measure what works.

- **Use it in your posts.** Write a LinkedIn post once, put your profile or an offer link in it or in a first comment, and schedule it in the calendar or a posting queue. LinkedIn is available on every plan, including the free one.
- **Tag the link.** Add UTM tags so you can see clicks, visitors and referrers per post and per network. Our guide to [UTM naming conventions](https://www.trackmedia.app/blog/utm-naming-conventions) keeps them consistent.
- **Share on more than LinkedIn.** The same announcement goes to X, Bluesky, Threads, Facebook and the rest of the 21 networks, with a version fitted to each.
- **See what a post did.** LinkedIn analytics sit next to your other networks, including posts you did not publish with us.
