# LinkedIn hashtag analytics: what you can track

LinkedIn's analytics help pages list no per-hashtag report. Here is what they do show, and how to compare your own hashtags with a simple log.

*Guides · Published 2026-10-06*

LinkedIn hashtag analytics, as a report that ranks your hashtags by performance, does not appear in any LinkedIn analytics help page we read. LinkedIn documents analytics for each post, for your posts over time, and for Page posts, and none of those pages mentions hashtags, so comparing hashtags means keeping your own log.

Every LinkedIn detail below comes from a LinkedIn Help page we opened on October 6, 2026, and the guide ends with a method for testing hashtags using the numbers LinkedIn does give you.

## Does LinkedIn have hashtag analytics?

Not in the documentation we could read. We opened LinkedIn's help pages for [viewing post analytics](https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/a525196), [post analytics metrics](https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/a516971), [combined post analytics](https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/a701208), [Page content analytics](https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/a564051) and [Page analytics](https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/a547077), then searched each for the word "hashtag". It appears on none of them.

That is not proof that no hashtag number exists anywhere in LinkedIn. It means the metric lists LinkedIn publishes do not include one. If you see a hashtag figure in your own account, treat it as unexplained until LinkedIn documents it.

## What does LinkedIn report for each post?

For a personal profile, LinkedIn's help page says you can see analytics for individual posts, including text posts, images, videos, events, polls and articles. To open them on desktop, click the **Me** icon, then under **Manage** click **Posts & Activity**. Pick the **Post**, **Videos**, **Images**, **Articles** or **Newsletter** tab, then click the impressions number in the lower-left corner of the post or **View analytics** in the lower-right.

The [metrics page](https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/a516971) groups the numbers like this:

- **Discovery:** impressions, members reached, and the percentage of impressions that came from **In network** versus **Out of network** members.
- **Social engagement:** reactions, comments, reposts, saves and sends on LinkedIn.
- **Link engagement:** visits to links in the post, with exceptions for links LinkedIn flags and for links that point inside LinkedIn.

LinkedIn says these numbers are estimates and may not be precise, that only you can see your post analytics, and that your own views and engagements count toward them.

LinkedIn's post analytics page lists availability windows. For content types other than video and articles, it says discovery and social engagement counts are available for 1,000 days, members reached data for 400 days and demographic breakdowns for 180 days. It gives 180 days for video performance analytics and two years for article and newsletter analytics. Any log you keep should record the numbers before those windows close.

### Your posts over time

LinkedIn's [creator analytics page](https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/a704175) says to click **Me**, then **View Profile**, scroll to **Analytics**, click **Show all analytics**, then click your post impressions number. That opens combined post analytics. The [combined analytics page](https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/a701208) says the range runs from the past seven days up to the past 365 days, and that you can export to an .XLSX file. The export is the easiest way to build the log described below.

## What do LinkedIn Page analytics show?

A Page admin gets a different set of reports. LinkedIn's page on [accessing Page analytics](https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/a565590) says to open the Page admin view, click **Analytics** in the left menu, then choose **Content**, **Visitors**, **Followers** or another tab.

The [Content analytics page](https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/a564051) lists highlights, metrics over time, and a content engagement table by individual post. Its metrics include impressions, members reached, clicks, reactions, comments, reposts and engagement rate. LinkedIn defines engagement rate there as the ratio of interactions per impressions, where interactions include clicks, reactions, comments and shares.

The one Page hashtag setting we read is narrow. LinkedIn's page on [Trending Employee Content hashtags](https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/a551407) says a Page super admin can activate up to 3 hashtags on a Life or What We Do Page, so member posts using them can populate that section. It describes eligibility, not performance numbers.

## What about followed hashtags and hashtag pages?

We could not verify them. Search results we saw pointed to LinkedIn Help articles on using and following hashtags, associating a hashtag with a Page, and sharing from a Page's hashtag feed. We opened three of those addresses (answer numbers a528144, a1493822 and a1492993) in a regular browser tab on October 6, 2026, and each showed LinkedIn's "Page Not Found" screen. We also searched LinkedIn's Help Center for "hashtag" that day. None of the first nine result titles was about using or following hashtags; they covered Trending Employee Content, LinkedIn Changemakers, Page admin roles, tagging people in photos, Groups best practices and #Hiring message privacy. We cannot tell whether the missing articles were moved or removed.

So this guide makes no claim about hashtag limits per post, whether hashtags in comments count, or what a hashtag page shows. Check LinkedIn's live Help Center for those.

## How can you track LinkedIn hashtags yourself?

Record the hashtags used on each post next to that post's own numbers, then compare groups of similar posts. LinkedIn will not do the grouping, but its per-post figures are enough input.

1. **Make a log.** One row per post, with the date, a short title, the exact hashtags used, and the post format (text, image, video, document).
2. **Collect the same numbers each time.** Take impressions, members reached, the in-network and out-of-network split, reactions, comments and reposts from post analytics, at the same age for every post, such as seven days after publishing.
3. **Calculate one rate.** Interactions divided by impressions is simple. This is our own formula, since LinkedIn's Page engagement rate also counts clicks.
4. **Change one thing at a time.** Compare posts of the same format and topic that differ only in hashtags. Keep a no-hashtag post as a baseline.
5. **Repeat before you decide.** A single post tells you almost nothing, so wait for several posts per hashtag set.

Here is the arithmetic with made-up numbers, to show the layout and not to suggest results:

| Hashtags used | Impressions | Reactions, comments, reposts (rate) |
| --- | --- | --- |
| #marketing | 1,200 | 20 + 4 + 2 = 26 (2.2%) |
| None | 900 | 15 + 2 + 1 = 18 (2.0%) |
| #saas | 1,500 | 21 + 5 + 3 = 29 (1.9%) |

Three posts like these cannot separate a hashtag effect from topic, timing or luck. The **Out of network** percentage is the closest documented signal of reach beyond your followers. Even so, LinkedIn does not say which part of it came from a hashtag. LinkedIn also counts your own engagements in your analytics, so leave your own test posts alone.

## What can TrackMedia do for hashtag tracking?

TrackMedia has no per-hashtag report. It can help you build the log, though, because it keeps each post's text and numbers together. Here is what TrackMedia does today:

- **Find posts by hashtag.** The **Posts** page has a "Search post text" box. It matches case-insensitively on a substring, so searching `#ai` would also match `#aid`. Check the results before you count them.
- **See each post's numbers.** Posts in the list show metrics where the platform supplies them, and the Analytics tab's Performance view ranks top posts by the engagement they earned over 7, 30 or 90 days or a custom range. Imported posts, which were not published through TrackMedia, are ranked alongside TrackMedia posts.
- **Keep your own link tags.** If a post carries a link, TrackMedia turns it into a tracked short link and never overwrites UTM tags already in it, so you can add your own `utm_content` value per test. See [UTM naming conventions for social media](https://www.trackmedia.app/blog/utm-naming-conventions) for how to name them.

TrackMedia's code includes a LinkedIn connector that requests impressions, members reached, reactions, comments, reposts, clicks and saves from LinkedIn. Which of those come back depends on what LinkedIn grants for your connection, and for a personal profile some LinkedIn permissions are closed to most apps, so some numbers can be missing. The limit is simple: nothing in TrackMedia groups posts or metrics by hashtag, so you still do the comparison in a spreadsheet.

If you schedule LinkedIn posts ahead, the hashtags travel as ordinary text, and our guide to [seeing and editing scheduled posts on LinkedIn](https://www.trackmedia.app/blog/how-to-see-and-edit-scheduled-posts-on-linkedin) covers where the queue lives. The Instagram version of this question is in [hashtags for Instagram Reels](https://www.trackmedia.app/blog/hashtags-for-instagram-reels), and [TrackMedia analytics](https://www.trackmedia.app/#analytics) covers the numbers for your connected accounts.

## How we checked this

We opened each page below on October 6, 2026. For the analytics pages we also searched the full text for the word "hashtag" and found none. We did not test hashtags on a live LinkedIn account, and the arithmetic example uses invented numbers. LinkedIn changes its help pages, so check the live page if a label looks different.

We could not read LinkedIn's help articles on using and following hashtags, associating a hashtag with a Page, or sharing from a Page's hashtag feed: the three addresses we tried returned a "Page Not Found" screen in a regular browser tab, and a LinkedIn Help search for "hashtag" did not list such articles among its first nine results. We did not open LinkedIn's Page analytics export page. TrackMedia's behavior comes from our product code, read the same day.
